Even though Tamar Braxton grew up in a home with four other sisters, she’s never had to share a room. But that’ll all change once she enters the “Celebrity Big Brother” house in a matter of days.
The singer chatted about the upcoming stint on the hit CBS reality show, where she’ll join the likes of Kandi Burruss and retired NFL running back Ricky Williams in the competition airing Jan. 21.
“I’m nervous getting stuck in a house with anyone,” she told Entertainment Tonight Monday, Jan. 14. “I’ve never had a roommate before. I don’t know how that is going to work out on this show.”
Even her sister, Toni Braxton questioned the decision.
“My sisters think I’m absolutely nuts,” the star dished before noting they’re all excited for her — especially Towanda Braxton. “Toni, in particular, she was like, ‘You do know you have never had a roommate, and you are used to doing things your way.'”
But still, there’s one concept that won’t be foreign to Tamar: being in a house with a ton of celebrities.
Along with Burruss, who already stars on the reality show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Tamar will also compete with ’80s TV star Joey Lawrence, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, and former Trump communications director Anthony Scaramucci, to name a few.
“To be stuck in a house with a bunch of celebrities, I guess I’m used to it,” she says. “My sisters are pretty much celebrities, I guess so. But that doesn’t really faze me at all.”
The stars will vie to remain in the house and avoid being voted off by viewers who watch their every move 24/7. During the show, which last season ran for 13 episodes, the celebs will take part in various competitions.
And Tamar is certainly up for the challenge.
“I’m hardcore competitive, fan or not,” she said, noting she’s been a fan of the show and was even approached to join last season. “But because I’m in the Big Brother house, I’m really competitive and I’m ready to win some competitions.”
Tamar said contractual obligations with her family’s We TV series “Braxton Family Values” prohibited her from joining the first U.S. edition of the show last season. But this time around, Braxton is pleased she could join the program, which crowned actress and Tony winner star Marissa Jaret Winokur as its first season winner.
“I was so bummed, and then this year again they asked me and I basically cleared my schedule,” Tamar said. “Seriously, I’m not missing another opportunity to be on my favorite show.”
