Nobody can accuse Rich Homie Quan of running away from his responsibilities.
According to The Blast, a judge signed off on documents so Quan, real name Dequantes Lamar, can be legally considered the father of the 4-year-old boy he has with Amber Williams, his girlfriend.
As of the ruling, Royal Rich Williams will take the rapper’s last name of Lamar. Plus, no child support was ordered because Quan, Williams and the baby all live together under the same roof in Georgia.
The judge also granted “The Type of Way” rapper and his girlfriend joint legal and physical custody, although the baby was living solely with his mother between 2014-2015.
Quan said it was his idea to file court papers, because he wanted to be legally recognized as Royal’s dad without any questions. He began that process in September of this year.
On the music front, things seem to have been challenging for the 29-year-old, while his former collaborator Young Thug has shot to stardom.
In March of this year, Quan released his debut album “Rich As In Spirit” and last month delivered the mixtape “The Gif.” The rapper said his music has matured a lot these days, and he wants to motivate people with it.
“I’ve gotten older, watching what I say because I know the previous years I’ve gotten in trouble,” he told XXL. “And I know everybody’s listening now so with everybody listening, I just want to make sure I can motivate you. This music, my music is for motivational purposes. I’m trying to encourage you to get up and be somebody, do something. I’m not saying it gotta be music but just something.”
Neither Quan or Williams has mentioned anything about custody being settled yet.
