Lauryn Hill Wins $65K Lawsuit Against Cousin

Grammy award-winning artist Lauryn Hill reportedly won her case against her relative Gerald Hill after suing him for $65,000.

Lauryn said her cousin had no intention of paying her back the money she let him borrow in 2017 and sued him for a breach of contract. The judge agreed and ruled in the singer’s favor after Gerald didn’t respond back to Lauryn’s complaint. He is now being ordered to dish out the $65K he finessed out of the “Lost Ones” musician plus interest and monetary damages for the losses she suffered.

Lauryn loaned Gerald a substantial amount of money to help him with his Maplewood, NJ home that was allegedly put up for foreclosure. He stated in their financial agreement that he’d pay Lauryn 10 percent interest if the loan wasn’t paid off within three months. However, the mother of six said Gerald hasn’t paid back one cent.

The “Ex-Factor” singer is currently being sued by American Express for unpaid credit card debt. The company claimed Lauryn owed $371,892.39 for “the price of goods sold and/or services rendered.”

Lauryn was slammed by fans in July for canceling several tour shows for the “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” in North Carolina, Virginia Beach and Florida. She also postponed shows in Tennessee and Georgia.

Live Nation released the following statement, “Due to unforeseen production issues, a select number of dates on ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill 20th Anniversary Tour’ have been postponed or canceled.”
