Steve Harvey’s Reps Forced to Clarify That the Comedian’s Talk Show ‘Steve’ Is Not Being Canceled

News broke earlier this week that singer Kelly Clarkson has landed a talk show on NBC that will replace Steve Harvey’s “Steve” in certain markets. However, some confused that to mean that the show was being canceled altogether. Now, the comedian’s team has issued a statement making it clear that “Steve” will remain on-air.

A report from Deadline on Wednesday noted that the fate of “Steve” wasn’t certain after it was revealed that “The Kelly Clarkson Show” would air on a few NBC stations in fall 2019. However, some websites reported that the show would be yanked from the small screen.

That led fans to chime in on the supposed cancelation.

“Anyone know why Steve Harvey’s show was cancelled?”

“So Steve Harvey show got cancelled & will be replaced by The Kelly Clarkston Show? 😂😂😂 He better call 45! #NBC”

“@SpencerKarter I’ve heard that #SteveHarvey’s talk show has been cancelled after 2 seasons & will be replaced by #KellyClarkson’s talk show next year. Reaction? #EndRacism.”

“Damn they cancelled the Steve Harvey Show… good thing he hosts like 32 other television shows plus all of the award shows AND Apollo so he good lol.”

On Thursday, Sept. 20, a statement from Harvey’s representative stressed to BET that the program won’t go anywhere.

It said “The Kelly Clarkson Show” would replace the program as a lead-in to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in some NBC markets, echoing entertainment industry reports. The rep also noted that the show is nationally syndicated on stations owned by Cox Media Group, Capitol, E.W. Scripps, Gray, Hearst, Meredith Corp., Mission, NBCU Television, Nexstar, Quincy, Raycom, Sinclair, Tegna and Tribune.

For example, in Atlanta, which is not one of the locations Clarkson’s show will air next fall, “Steve” airs on Fox, not NBC.

Harvey’s rep also told viewers they’ll need to check their local listings to learn when “Steve” will air in their respective cities.
