Bill Cosby’s daughter Ensa Cosby has passed away at age 44. No immediate information was provided on the cause of death, however, updated reports provided by the family spokesperson said she died from kidney disease. TMZ initially reported that Ensa had kidney issues in the past and other health complications. It is believed she was waiting for a transplant. In 1997, Bill and his wife Camille’s 27-year-old son Ennis was murdered. The couple has 5 children together.
Ensa Cosby and her sister Erinn were vocal supporters of their father in the midst of his sexual assault trial. The duo released a statement to the “Breakfast Club” in May 2017 stating, “My father has been publicly lynched in the media and my family, my young daughter, my young niece and nephew have had to stand helplessly by and watch the double standard or pretending to protect the rights of some but ignoring the rights of others.” It continued, “I strongly believe my father is innocent of the crimes alleged against him and I believe that racism has played a big role in all aspects of this scandal.”
Update: A family spokesperson for the Cosby family released a statement to USA Today confirming the cause of death as kidney (renal) failure. Per the statement, the family thanked everyone for their prayers for their “beloved and beautiful Ensa.”
We will continue to update this story as more details become available.
