Nick Cannon Quite Nonchalant About R. Kelly Sex Cult Accusations: ‘I Don’t Know and I Really Don’t Care’

Nick Cannon doesn’t have an issue with R. Kelly, despite reports that the R&B crooner is housing women in a brainwashed state and against their will.

“If we’re going to judge R. Kelly, we gotta judge Roman Polanski,” Cannon told E!’s “Daily Pop” Monday Tuesday, Aug. 1, of the Oscar-winning director who pleaded guilty raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977. Polanski was sentenced to 42 days in jail for the case and fled the U.S. before then.

Kelly allegedly controls women in his Chicago and Atlanta homes — from how they dress, when they sleep and how they behave during taped sexual encounters with him. It is the newest sexual misconduct accusation against the “Bump N’ Grind” singer, who pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of child porn in 2008. He also had an annulled marriage to his mentee, the late singer Aaliyah, when she was 15.

“I don’t know what that man does at night,” Cannon said of Kelly. “I’ve been in the studio with that man, that man is a genius. I’ve been onstage with him, I ain’t been in his bedroom. I don’t know if it’s a cult, I don’t know if it’s fire and lights, brimstone. I don’t know. And I really don’t care. That’s none of my business what R. Kelly does with his situation.”

Kelly has denied the accusations and a woman who lives in his Atlanta home refuted reports she is being held captive and in a brainwashed state.
