Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) was once again cut off by her male colleagues as she questioned Attorney General Jeff Sessions during the Intelligence Committee hearing.
Harris was asking about Sessions about the investigation into Russian interference with 2016 election results when Sen. Richard M. Burr, (R-N.C.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) told her to stop peppering Sessions. They wanted Harris, who is of Indian and Jamaican heritage, to allow the attorney general to answer a question about a policy he cited for why he couldn’t respond what she asked him.
“So, did you not consult [that policy] before you came before this committee knowing we would ask you questions about that?” Harris asks Tuesday, June 13.
“Well, we talked about it. The policy is based …” Sessions responds.
“Did you ask that it would be shown to you?” Harris asks.
“The policy is based on the principle that the president …” Sessions begins.
“Sir, I’m not asking about the principle,” Harris says. “I am asking, when you knew you would be asked these questions and you would rely on that policy, did you not ask your staff to show you the policy that would be the basis for you refusing to answer the majority of questions that have been asked of you?”
McCain stepped in to tell Burr, who is the chairman of the committee, that Sessions “should be allowed to answer the question.”
“Senators will allow the chair to control the hearing,” Burr says, leading the former Alabama senator to grin and chuckle. “Senator Harris, let him answer.”
The probe continued with Sessions completing his responses but not answering Harris’ questions head-on.

Many Twitter users weighed in on what was the second time Burr and McCain interrupted Harris, the first time came during a hearing on Wednesday, June 7, when she questioned Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
