Forbes released their top five wealthiest hip-hop moguls — including rappers and mega-successful producers — this week.
According to Forbes, the top five have been constant for the last few years. Mega-producers Birdman, Diddy, Dr. Dre, and entrepreneurs and rappers Jay Z and 50 Cent were mainstays. However, this year Drake enters the fold with a $60 million net worth.
Toronto’s favorite rapper recently released his latest album, Views. The album has performed well, beating out Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” for the No. 1 spot on iTunes last week.
The makers of the list state that Diddy is the richest man in hip-hop because of his various business ventures. His deal with Diageo’s Ciroc vodka adds to his $750 million empire. The business mogul has stakes in the TV network Revolt, has his Sean John clothing line, Bad Boy music label, tequila Deleon and alkaline water Aquahydrate.
Together the “Forbes Five” have a combined net worth of $2.2 billion.
