Kendrick Lamar has become an American pop star over the last year so, and despite his recent differences with GQ magazine, he really is considered by many to be the “Man Of The Year.” So it was only right that Kendrick took the stage at Sunday’s 2013 American Music Awards, where he performed “Poetic Justice” and “Swimming Pools” from his album good kid, m.A.A.d city. As reported by consequenceofsound.net:
“Though Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city lost out on Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ The Heist, the Top Dawg star stole the show with his performance. Joined by fellow TDE signee and CoSigned artist SZA and backed by a full band, Lamar blended “Swimming Pools” and “Poetic Justice” into one knockout performance.”
Their performance was a little bit more laid back than your typical rap performance, with more emphasis placed on vocal performance and the instrumentation of the band. However, Kendrick still had the entire crowd on its feet and singing along with him.
Kendrick Lamar is rolling with Kanye West on the Yeezus tour, which is scheduled to restart on Nov. 27 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
