Metta World Peace’s Subway Ride to First Knicks Game Captured on Video

World Peace Takes Subway To His Knicks DebutMetta World Peace didn’t show up to the Madison Square Garden in a black-tinted SUV for his debut game with the New York Knicks on Wednesday. He got there like millions of New Yorkers do everyday, he took the subway from Queensbridge where he was raised to 34th Street in Manhattan.

The 33-year-old forward attend St. John’s  University in Queens from 1997–1999, before he was selected by the Bulls in the 1999 NBA Draft. The Knicks passed up on World Peace (back when he was known as Ron Artest) with the 15th pick to take French center and notorious draft bust Frederic Weis that year.

Weis never played a game in the NBA and is best known for being posterized by Vince Carter in the 2000 Olympics. Chicago selected Artest with the very next pick. Now, after 14 seasons in the league with five teams, World Peace is finally a Knick after signing with New York during the offseason. He seems genuinely thrilled to be back home.

World Peace dropped four points and snagged four rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench as the Knicks beat the Bucks 90-83 in their season opener.
