Adrian Peterson Flattered by Rumors of HGH Use

Rumors of Adrian Peterson using performance-enhancing drugs don’t seem to offend him, rather he takes them in stride.

“Seriously,” the Minnesota Vikings superstar running back told USA Today Sports:

“Especially with the amount of work I put in, Guys say that to me, or if I hear someone saying that–it makes me feel good.

“When you know you don’t do it, and someone’s saying you do, you’re like, ‘Wow. They think I’m on HGH? I’m doing that good? Well, hoo! Thank you, Jesus!’ It’s a compliment. I don’t get mad about it at all.”

Less than a year after tearing his ACL and MCL, Peterson returned in remarkable fashion, rushing for  2,097 yards en route to capturing the NFL’s MVP Award.

It was such an amazing recovery from a disastrous knee injury, that many wondered how Peterson could have done it without human growth hormones or some other banned drug. He has insisted his workout regimen has benefited him and that he has not taken any banned substance, nor has he ever tested positive for illegal drugs. But he said he understands those who do.

“People are trying to get the edge,” Peterson said. “The reality of it is, people are trying to provide for their families. People are trying to keep their spot on the rosters. If it’s something they can use that’s not going to show up, they’re going to use it.”
