Good Deed: Chris Brown Calls on Team Breezy to Donate Sneakers to LA Youth

Chris Brown found time to be charitable over the holiday weekend with the help of Reebok, his Unity Campaign and Team Breezy.

On Saturday, the “Fine China” singer was on hand to donate nearly 1,000 sneakers at Crenshaw High School during the “WE US: Walk Everywhere in Unity’s Shoes” event.

According to Rapup:

“As part of his Unity campaign, Chris works with the LA mayor’s office and gang reduction organizations. He gave away 1,000 pairs of Reeboks to youth in Compton and Baldwin Village to remind young people that wherever and whenever they walk, we are a united community.”

While at the event, Brown opened up to People magazine about his own struggles growing up in poverty.

“I used to have to borrow my cousin’s clothes. So being able to come from that poverty-stricken environment and then being able to get out of it, is what I tried to [do]. … I just want to show the kids and have them have a better light of opportunities for them to do what they need to do.”

Before the night was complete, Brown tweeted a thank you to his dedicated followers, affectionately known as Team Breezy, who reportedly worked until 1 a.m. at the event.

“Thank you for allowing me to continue to inspire change in the world. Today was a great step forward!”

With every good deed, Chris Brown brings himself one step closer to repairing his damaged reputation.
