Who was clamoring for a sequel to Despicable Me? Was it you? You? Perhaps… you? Well, wish granted. The full trailer for the sequel to Steve Carell’s animated supervillain-adopting-kids movie is here. Alongside it comes a new poster which, as you can see, is the height of class.
The trailer features more action by those insufferable yellow goggle things, and also reveals some of the plot of the movie. Apparently, Gru is forcibly recruited into an organization that wants his help to save the world. Say, who’s willing to be that it turns out that those people ARE THE REAL VILLAINS ALL ALONG (seriously, why is it the new “thing” that kids’ movies try to pull a twist with who the villain is?).
But really, the plot doesn’t matter. This is all about the anthropomorphic tater tot things. They’re the ones on this poster, not Gru. I look forward to being irritated with them for years to come. Doubtless they’ve got their own TV series in the bag.
Anyway, here’s the trailer. Despicable Me 2 comes out July 3rd.
