CBS Officially Orders Brandon T. Jackson Starring 'Beverly Hills Cop' Series

In Hollywood, studios often cancels pilots at the last minute, which means show deals aren’t usually solidified until the ink is dry. For the last few months there has been talk in the news about making a Beverly Hills Cop TV pilot. It was never officially though, and up into this point it was nothing but mere rhetoric. Earlier today, CBS formally announced that they had ordered the pilot for the Beverly Hills Cop TV show adaptation which will star Brandon T. Jackson as Axel Foley’s (Eddie Murphy’s) sons.

The whole show idea started back in 2011 during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, when Eddie Murphy said, “what I’m trying to do now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley’s son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit. I’d do the pilot, show up here and there…” At the time, it was nothing but an aspiration and with a little Hollywood stardom and a few connections in the TV business Murphy was able to put his idea into fruition.

According to the report, Beverly Hills Cop “centers on Axel Foley’s son, Aaron, a blue-collar police officer, trying to make a name for himself, absent of his prominent father’s influence, and the criminals among the rich and famous in Beverly Hills he helps eliminate.”

Shawn Ryan will pen the pilot episode, Marney Hochman and Eddie Murphy will executive produce.

At this time, it is unknown whether Murphy will guest appear in any of the Beverly Hills Cop episodes.
