Looks like three is a lucky number for TV series right now. Following on the heels of Homeland’s recent renewal, The Hollywood Reporter also tells us that Fox’s The X Factor has also been picked up for a third season.
This also comes as no real surprise considering the recent decision to add even MORE celebrities to the shows’ payroll. Following the uber successful additions of new super celebrity judges, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez make their debut as co-hosts on November 1. The duo will almost certainly carry over into the third season. It was only a matter of time before Lopez followed in the footsteps of his fellow radio DJay’s turned reality TV hosts, Ryan Seacrest and Carson Daily. The two respectively spend their mornings on the radio stations KIIS FM and AMP Radio, and their evenings on American Idol and The Voice. Lopez is currently a DJ for MY FM’s rush hour time slot and can now add reality TV host to his resume.
The X Factor is no doubt a huge hit and will live on past three seasons, proving that yet again anything Simon Cowell touches will turn to gold. Cowell can take credit for American Idol, America’s Got Talent, American Inventor, and even British boy band senstation, One Direction.
