Bobbi Kristina opened up to Oprah Winfrey on this Sunday’s episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, resulting in record breaking numbers for the struggling network, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Winfrey’s interview with the late Whitney Houston’s family, including daughter Bobbi Kristina, garnered an impressive 3.5 million viewers over the the hour and a half broadcast. The ratings were reportedly established by Fast affiliate ratings.
The big numbers made the interview the network’s most watched telecast ever, a grand improvement from the numbers earned by Next Chapter with pastor Joel Osteen (1.6 million). The show also earned a 3.1 rating for OWN”s sought after women 25-54 demographic.
Although competitive data reports won’t likely be published until Tuesday, 3.5 million will likely put Oprah’s Next Chapter among the top 5 broadcasts.
The interview, announced on little more than a week’s notice, brings more good news for the network which had ratings challenges at its launch. OWN recently posted substantial year over year growth, especially since Oprah has been showing more of her face on television.
