‘Call Me a N—er Again!’: Black Hotel Guest Dares White Employee to Repeat Racial Slur on Camera and Her Jaw-Dropping Response Goes Viral

A white hotel receptionist who repeated the N-word “with a hard R” on camera has drawn surprising responses on X, with many racist commenters coming out of the woodwork.

RT, the state-funded Russian news outlet formerly known as Russia Today, shared the video on Sept. 7.

It has since gone viral, with upwards of half a million views and more than a thousand viewers weighing in.

The incident allegedly occurred at Super 8 Wyndham Columbia East in Columbia, Missouri, and the property has since received a smattering of negative Yelp reviews.

“Super 8, why is this racist lowlife working there? I can’t believe y’all hired this racist with no customer service skills,” asked one reviewer.

Another scathing review went: “the fact that [the employee] felt so empowered and comfortable using a racial slur whilst being filmed on duty speaks volumes about the culture here.”

But over on X, hundreds of people let loose with disturbing comments that overshadowed the original clip.

“He probably had it coming. She’s a queen!” read one of the tamer comments, followed by another top comment that read: “He was probably acting like 1 before he started recording, but negros never show that part.”

Several unverified accounts inquired if the receptionist had a GoFundMe and claimed they would “book a room” at that location now.

While the reasons for RT amplifying the clip are unclear, back in 2024 the Biden administration issued sanctions against the Russian TV network after accusing it of waging information warfare and acting on behalf of Moscow spy agencies.

“RT wants its new covert intelligence capabilities, like its longstanding propaganda and disinformation efforts, to remain hidden,” then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters at a State Department press conference on September 13, 2024.

“Our most powerful antidote to Russia’s lies is the truth. It’s shining a bright light on what the Kremlin is trying to do under the cover of darkness.”

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, followed by declaring a global ban on several Russian state media networks, including RT.

It’s unclear whether the Trump administration’s selective rollback of Russia sanctions has affected RT specifically.

Whatever RT’s motive for boosting the recent clip, it succeeded in turning an ugly moment of racism at a Missouri motel into a flashpoint, watched and analyzed by thousands.

As of publication, Super 8 has not responded to a request for comment, and no one has publicly identified the white receptionist or the Black guest.

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
