There isn’t a stage Bobby Brown steps onto that doesn’t get fans riled up — even at 57.
But now it seems Mr. “My Perogative” is tapping into a younger market alongside a fresh talent: his son, Landon Brown.
The sun was going down over Louisville, Kentucky, when the elder Brown took the stage in a clip currently going viral online. The buzz isn’t just about the choreography — it’s about what happened when father and son stepped up to the mic together.
Bobby took the stage at the Sky Soul Festival in Louisville on Aug. 8. With the band behind him, phones were already up across the crowd, waiting to capture the nostalgia.
Standing beside him was a taller man clad in all white, microphone in hand and ready. That was Landon Brown — the singer’s eldest child, born in 1986. He is the son of Melika Payne, who later married “Martin” star Carl Anthony Payne II.
Bobby Brown stepped back and sang backup on his own record.
He let his son take the lead, filling in behind him, and at one point pulled Landon into a full embrace at center stage while the crowd cheered.
Brown, as seen in a TikTok video, looked calm and cool in a red cap, a black shirt and grey sweatpants.
Meanwhile, Landon stepped out in an all-white outfit, with a fitted shirt that accentuated his physique. The comment section could not hold it together.
“Aaaaaaaaaaw singing backup to his own song as his son leads…. I’m toooooo emotional for this,” wrote one person in the comment section.
“I love to see the legends bring their kids talent front and center,” another posted, pulling more. “Bobby has been through so much, I love this for him,” one TikTok user continued.
Others heard the difference and said so plainly. “Landon sounds good but nothing like Bobby voice,” another added. But one reply reached for something bigger.
“I love how much Landon loves his father and understands what he’s been through,” another wrote. “Landon will protect his father’s name including Ms Whitney and Bobbie Christina for the rest of his life.” That comment carries even more weight given the family’s history.
Brown has seven children by four women. Landon came first, in 1986. Kim Ward, who Brown knew from his childhood in Boston, had daughter La’Princia in 1989 and son Bobby Brown Jr. in 1992. His marriage to Whitney Houston led to the birth of their daughter Bobbi Kristina in 1993.
With his wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, whom he married in 2012, he has three children: Cassius, born in 2009; Bodhi, born in 2015; and Hendrix, born in 2016.”
Brown has endured the heartbreaking loss of two of his older children, including daughter Bobbi Kristina, who died in July 2015 at 22, months after being found unresponsive in a bathtub.
Bobby Jr. was found dead at his Los Angeles-area home in November 2020 at 28; the coroner later ruled it an accidental overdose involving alcohol, cocaine and fentanyl. It was Landon who announced his brother’s death, posting to Instagram: “I love you forever King.”
Brown has never pretended to be over the grief. On the eighth anniversary of Bobbi Kristina’s death, he posted a video alongside his younger children, stating simply that he would never get over losing her.
Landon’s own relationship with the family’s public story has had its rough patches. Mostly not of his making.
In 2008, after appearing on MTV’s “Rock the Cradle,” he gave an interview to the National Enquirer that ran under a headline calling life with Houston a nightmare. He has spent years since maintaining that his words were twisted.
He even recalled Houston phoning him about it, describing the feeling as his heart dropping to his ankles. By his account, she laughed it off and told him it would happen again someday, per TVOne.
Landon lived with his father and Houston for a time as a young boy in 1998. He has since carved out his own lane, releasing his debut single, “Again,” in 2021 and working behind the camera on various short films.
Bobby Brown’s family has become a regular part of his live shows, with his younger children turning up onstage as dancers.
Back in July, when Brown headlined a show at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, two of his younger children, Bodhi, 12, and Cassius, 18 popped out.
The two weren’t just standing around, either — they were delivering full-on ’90s R&B choreography.
The video blew up on TikTok, with fans rushing into the comments to talk about the sweet moments of a brother and sister supporting their dad.
“They look happy and healthy. I wish Bobby Christina had this version of her dad,” the top comment read.
“lol baby sis having a time chewing her gum, hittin a lil 2 step,” another wrote. Elsewhere, one TikTok user shared, “I’m glad that he was able to embrace life and keep moving forward. Beautiful kids.”
