Earlier this year, vocalist Chaka Khan had podcast hosts asking about the skincare routine behind her youthful look at 73.
At 77, singer Lionel Richie is not only still touring, but he also looks at least 20 years younger than he actually is.
Now, another legendary artist is drawing praise for his youthful look.
MC Hammer has posted a new video that places him firmly among the Black entertainers whose looks defy their ages.
The “U Can’t Touch This” rapper recently shared a sweet video of himself on Aug. 23, spending time with his 2-year-old grandson Massai Tyus.
The two were seated at a restaurant. Hammer smiled at the camera with shades on, while his grandson was busy scribbling away with his crayon.
About six seconds into the 10-second clip, the musician finally got his grandson to notice the camera.
Copying his grandad, Massai flashed a smile at the phone before returning to his coloring book.
To capture the moment, Hammer added his 1994 song “One Mo Time” as the audio.
Like a proud grandfather, the 64-year-old captioned the post, “Paw Paw’s Boy,” with a blowing kiss emoji.
In addition to noting how cute Massai is, many were more focused on Hammer’s ageless appearance.
One person wrote, “Damn, Hammer you look GREAT! Gon’ ‘head, bruh!”
A second person typed, “Omg he still look the same haven’t aged a bit.” A third person who felt similar said, “You still look young. Handsome little guy!”
A fourth person who noticed said, “That’s a good looking boy, SB. But you don’t look old enough to be a Paw Paw.”
A few were then reminded that the young boy likely has no clue of how legendary his grandfather is.
“Kids are so innocent. This boy doesn’t know his grandfather was the hottest rapper on the planet at one time, with his own cartoon, legendary stuff,” a fourth person wrote.
MC Hammer is actually old enough to be a “paw paw.”
The Oakland, California, native, whose birth name is Stanley Burrell, is 64 years old.

He has been married to Stephanie Fuller since 1985. They have welcomed five children: A’Keiba, Stanley Jr., Jeremiah, Sarah, and Samuel.
Their grandson, Massai, is A’Keiba’s son, born in July 2024.
It’s not clear how many grandchildren he and Stephanie have in total, but based on their Instagram pages, it appears they have at least three, including Massai.
Hammer has two other grandchildren, Stanley Kirk Burrell III, 5, and Story Ray Burrell, 4, who are the son and daughter of Stanley Burrell Jr. and his partner Lina.
Following the 1994 release of one of his last known songs, “Pumps and a Bump,” Hammer briefly hit rock bottom.
In 1996, he filed for bankruptcy and reported $13 million in debt. He sold his mansion in Fremont for $5.3 million the next year. That same year, he moved his family to a ranch in Tracy, California, and became an ordained minister and started preaching.
Hammer recently announced that he would be dropping an autobiography this summer in Japan.
In April, he posted an AI video featuring a younger version of himself discussing his latest project, “Sovereign Hammer,” an artificial intelligence initiative. The video cuts off there, but he explained the project further in the caption.
He wrote, “My upcoming Autobiography “SOVEREIGN HAMMER” I explain my role and 10 year journey from idea to delivery of the world’s first ‘Native AI Operating System’ in a mobile phone. It debuted here in Japan with SoftBank a few days ago. It will be in 5000 stores April 24 in Japan.”
He added, “Most importantly I detail the obstacles and hurdles when the vision is beyond the comprehension of non-visionaries and how to maintain your self belief and strength during the birthing processes.”
The three-time Grammy award winning artist also has an interest in tech.
In 2020, rapper Chamillionaire said Hammer “owns a piece of Twitter” during a chat with Dame Dash.
Hammer has not confirmed that claim.
