Taye Diggs and Apryl Jones surprised fans with their synchronous improvised vocal ability as they belted “Summertime” from the 1935 George Gershwin opera “Porgy and Bess.”
Diggs uploaded an Instagram video of him creating a beat with his mouth seconds before singing “Summertime.” As he began singing the iconic Broadway tune, he panned the camera over to Jones, who quickly picked up her beau’s groove and fell right into place singing along with him.
Although it seemed like a well-thought-out plan, Diggs let his 1.2 million Instagram fans know that their singing video was an impromptu act.
“Summertime improv. She’s just following and still sounds fresh [red heart],” Diggs captioned the video.
The “Brown Sugar” actor’s comment section quickly filled with fans who were positively stunned by Jones’ raspy voice.
