‘I’ve Never Worn a Dress’: Sheryl Underwood Reveals She Lost 90 Pounds After Receiving Bad News from Her Doctor

Since the season 13 premiere of CBS’ “The Talk” earlier this week, fans have noticed a physical difference with its star Sheryl Underwood

On Sept. 12, during an interview with People magazine, the 58-year-old provided insight into her massive change: a 90-pound weight loss.

Underwood, who was previously pre-diabetic and suffering from high blood pressure, told the outlet that her weight loss stemmed from the health problems she faced last year when she weighed between 230 and 250 pounds.

While revealing the bad news the doctors told her at the time, Underwood said, “My lab work: diabetic, pre-diabetic, hypertension, all the things that you hear, especially with women. I really wanted to get ahead of it.”

Immediately following her visit, Underwood stated that she changed her diet, with the help of a nutritionist, by having cleaner and well-balanced meals, reducing food consumption, increasing water intake, and making it a priority to exercise.

She said, “Drinking more water. I’m eating fruit and vegetables that I never thought: green, leafy. I’m getting into eating blueberries and eating strawberries, and also getting more fiber in my diet with fiber supplements.”

Further in the conversation, Underwood opened up about how she overcame her challenges while juggling a workout routine with a busy schedule.

She said, “You want to move around. Unfortunately, I’m in a career where you drive to work, you sit down and get your hair and makeup on. Sometimes I just get up and walk around, or I try to talk on the phone and walk around.”

Underwood added, “I’ll do something while sitting in bed — I may do a little exercise, little stretching, and things. I love the stationary bike because then I can listen to my music and be on the bike.”

Although Underwood admitted to dropping four dress sizes, she reveals that she still wants to lose an additional 25 pounds. But until then, Underwood continues to get bloodwork done to help keep track of her progress.

Towards the end of the interview, Underwood disclosed that aside from losing more weight, her goal this season on “The Talk” is to ring in her 59th birthday in a dress. Underwood, who turns 59 next month, said, “I’ve never worn a dress!”

“The Talk” airs weekdays on CBS.
