I’m Convinced It’s Her’: Fans Speculate Lupita Nyong’o Will Take On the Role as Black Panther

Due to Chadwick Boseman’s untimely passing in 2020 from colon cancer, fans have raised a question on who will take on the beloved role as Black Panther. Although Marvel’s VP along with “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler have insisted Boseman’s role will not be re-cast, many fans have been hypothesizing over the past two years on who’ll fulfill the part as Wakanda leader.

After “Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever” showed a quick shot of an individual in the Black Panther suit fans are certain one of the returning cast members — which include Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright and Winston Duke — will become the new Black Panther. Now the new raised question is: Who?

While fans theorized T’Challa’s sister, Shuri, portrayed by actress Letitia Wright would take over his legendary position; Lupita Nyongo’s name recently came up as a potential candidate after her latest Instagram post.

Lupita decided to tease fans as she uploaded a video of herself mouthing the lyrics to Ricky Dillard and New G’s 2004 gospel song “There Is No Way.” The clip had an overlay that read, “When they ask me to tell them who the new Black Panther is:”

Lupita captioned the video, “Dropping hints about who the new Black Panther is… #WakandaForever #GospelTruth #BlackPanther #Spoilers”

The Academy Award winner’s 9.4 million followers were highly amused at her video, which received over 1.8 millions plays.

Many fans began to speculate Lupita’s role in the upcoming sequel.

“She is.. She’s the new Black Panther.”

“To be honest, I think it’s her.”

“All I know is it’s a female. I’m convinced it’s her.”

Black Panther quickly became a global phenomenon. According to Time Magazine, “It [Black Panther] is the third highest-grossing film domestically of all time.”

“Wakanda Forever” is scheduled to hit theaters in November, when the new Black Panther will be revealed to fans.
