‘Thought This Was Porsha’: Yandy Smith-Harris Vacation Post Takes a Turn After Fans Say She Looks Unrecognizable

Yandy Smith-Harris‘ recent vacation upload left fans scratching their heads for several reasons.

One reason related to the 40-year-old’s voluptuous figure. In an Instagram post shared on Aug. 3, Smith-Harris was seen rocking a two-piece swimsuit as she posed on a wooden raft.

Although Smith-Harris didn’t provide details about her tropical destination or who she went on vacation with, she did disclose how she felt during the excursion. In the caption, she wrote, “Uninhabited, extroverted, freedom enthusiast, abolitionist, love giver, visionary oh and I got a cute lil booty and nice teeth.”

Immediately following the upload, Smith-Harris’ husband Mendecees Harris asked the reality star when she took the photo. He wrote in the comments section, “When was this?!” Harris wasn’t the only individual questioning his wife.

As many fans viewed the snapshot, a handful of them wondered how long Smith-Harris had a thick body.

“Yandyyyyy holdin and be so humble.”

“Yandy with the YAMS.”

“Damn didn’t know you were built like that.”

“Ain’t know it was that phat.”

“Lil booty?That thang thanginnnnn.”

Among the previous responses, others brought up how unrecognizable the “Love & Hip Hop” star seemed in the image. One wrote, “Is this Yandy?” Another said, “Who’s is that I know that ain’t Yandy she better go put something else on right now.”

A third Instagram user claimed they mistook Smith-Harris for “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum Porsha Williams. That person said, “Thought this was Porsha for a minute.”

This isn’t the first time Smith-Harris’ unrecognizable look had fans doing a double take. In 2020, the mother of three uploaded a photo of herself wearing a Mara Hoffman bikini with a lavender cover-up. As for hair and makeup, Smith-Harris sported a bare face and faux blond locs.

She captioned the post, “Because I can…”

Still independent.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

The wider picture isn't any steadier. Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under, it's rarely the ones built to center a Black perspective from the ground up that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
