The hip-hop community is mourning the loss of beloved figure Pasha Bleasdell. The iconic model and music video star, who famously appeared in the visual for Nelly’s hit 2002 single “Hot In Heree,” died over the weekend from a brain tumor. She was 38 years old.
Award-winning music video director Director X confirmed the news on social media on Saturday, June 4, sharing, “We lost a friend yesterday. Pasha Bleasdell passed away from a brain tumor on June 4th 2022 11:59pm.”
Jogging fan’s memory X noted, ”If you made videos in 2000‘s or were around to watch them you know Pasha. We met her doing background work on the set of Donnell Jones ‘Where I Want To Be’ from there we put her in the mix. It was a wild ride from then on.”
The Canadian filmmaker had often worked with Bleasdell, revealing he’s “put her in a million videos and spent just as much time hanging out.” He praised working with the model, recalling, “She was always genuine and cool. Never brought drama to set of life.”
He concluded his tearful post, which included a video collage of Bleasdell’s work, writing, “You never know when the last time you speak to some one will be the last time you speak. I hold on to my memories of you with love. Rest in Power Pasha January 24th 1984 – June 4th 2022.”
Tributes poured in from fans and those who knew her closely, including rapper and actor Busta Rhymes, who expressed, “This is terrible!!! Rest Easy Queen Pasha.” Mr. Morgan wrote, “I remember being at the Nelly video in l.a with you & there was Pasha, a girl from Toronto, Shining thru in a room packed full of people. RIP.”
“Pasha Bleasdell is a LEGEND. The jean vest with no shirt/bra.. the Kangol with the wash and set.. my God we stole all her styles from the music videos.. She was IT R.I.P to an ICON, ” wrote one Twitter user.
“She was my favorite so beautiful I literally used to dance in the mirror and pretend I was her in Nelly video.”
