‘When The Hate Don’t Work They Start Telling Lies’: Wendy Williams’ Son Issues Cryptic Message as Rumors About His Mom Swirl

There is something special about a mother and son’s bond. Just ask Wendy Williams.

Her 21-year-old protector, Kevin Hunter Jr. came to her defense after rumors started swarming about his mother’s sobriety. The young man took to his social media to indirectly address some of the hoopla surrounding his media maven mom.

Hunter posted on his Instagram Story a now-deleted tweet that said, “When the hate don’t work they start telling lies.”

The statement could be addressing the two-year-old whispers that his mother relapsed and started drinking again. Last week the U.S. Sun reported that her manager and associates came to her home to check on her. Once they were there, the talk show host, allegedly intoxicated, started taking off her clothes and once naked, started touching herself inappropriately. According to the outlet, someone called 911 after the incident.

He might have been talking about claims that he and his mother are at odds.

The tabloid reported that last fall that Lil Kev, as he is affectionately called, told her that if she didn’t get sober, he would stop coming around.

An unidentified source said to be close to the family revealed, “Wendy’s relationship with Kevin Jr has been strained. He gave her an ultimatum. He told her he won’t be in her life unless she fixes herself.”

“Her son has been doling out the tough love, telling Wendy, ‘Get yourself help, mom,’” the person said.

Somehow, these dated rumors keep coming up. The rumors are fueled by her absence from television. The “Hot Topics” Queen has been on television almost every day since 2005, and since her hiatus a host of personalities have filled in for her on “The Wendy Williams Show.” The list reads like a “who’s who” in TV and pop culture: Kym Whitley, Finesse Mitchell, Michael Rappaport, Sherri Shepherd, Leah Remini, Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos, Remy Ma, Fat Joe, and more.

Probably tired of the mess, the seemingly devoted son posted this boomerang update on his Instagram story at the top of January 2022.

Williams is seen sipping a smoothie, eating a salad, and snuggled in mauve-knit bedding and a cream hoodie, listening to Drake’s “Do Not Disturb.”
