Comedian Steve Harvey is gearing up for the premiere of his new court show on ABC that the network has dubbed a “courtroom comedy series.” The trailer for “Judge Steve Harvey,” which premiers Tuesday, Jan. 4, has released, leaving many fans excited about the show.
ABC has ordered 10 episodes of the hour-long show. Harvey, who has had a long relationship with the network, also hosts “Celebrity Family Feud” as well as the syndicated “Family Feud.” His show reportedly will be unscripted, with “Judge Harvey” observing disputes that range from actual small claims to family arguments and riffs between friends. “Steve plays by his own rules, basing his courtroom on his own life experiences and some good old common sense,” according to ABC Network.
“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to continue my fruitful partnership with ABC and collaborate with them on my next venture,” Harvey said in a statement. “Viewers tuning into ‘Judge Steve Harvey’ will watch as I tackle tough and, at times, entertaining issues while also providing much-needed advice and good old-fashioned common sense to the litigants in my court,” Harvey said of his added line-up.
The production is produced by Den of Thieves and in association with Walt Disney Television’s alternative unit. On board for casting is MysticArt Pictures, which, earlier this year, issued a casting call for “roommates, friends, siblings, neighbors, co-workers and more that have humor, heart and passion who are ready to settle their case by a legendary celebrity.” One of the perks of being on the show is that the production will pay the amounts that end up awarded so that the defendant isn’t left to do so.
The show teaser leaves a lot to be explored by the viewers who will tune in come the new year. Harvey and the production definitely have many fans via social media wanting more. Some are in disbelief that Harvey will be hosting so many shows plus more. One fan wrote, “I’m convinced that this man has a CLONE!!! You cannot be on all these shows as one person…hardest working man in show business.” Another fan oozed excitement and enthusiasm. “Ooooooh, this oughta be gooood! Steve tells it like is IS!!”
