‘This Is Why He’ll Go Far’: Michael B. Jordan Laughs Off Denzel Washington Comparisons

Michael B. Jordan is finally teaming up with Denzel Washington and when fans learned that the “OG” heartthrob and the millennial heartthrob were joining forces, it didn’t take long for them to take that as a sign that the “Fences” star may officially be handing his leading man hat off to the “Creed” actor.

Washington directed Jordan in their upcoming romantic drama, “A Journal for Jordan,” and comparisons between both talented stars became a trending topic of conversation on social media following the announcement. The film marks the pair’s first time collaborating on a project, and Jordan’s first role as the leading man in a romantic drama.

When asked to comment on the Denzel Washington comparisons, Jordan responded, “That’s my mentor man! It’s all love man.” He also replied “always” when asked if having Washington as a mentor motivates him to work harder, and called the Academy Award-winning star the “OG.”

Fans applauded his respectful response and agreed that both actors are talented and fine, each in their own rights.

“That’s a great response. He know Denzel is the Denzel of our generation.”

“He’s the Michael B Jordan of this generation.”

“Definitely respectful and this is why he’ll go far. Inspired not hating.”

Based on a true story, “A Journal for Jordan” is scheduled to hit theaters on Christmas Day and follows a couple’s dedication to each other as the two withstand the tests of distance and war. Jordan stars as Sgt. Charles Monroe King. His character is that of “a soldier deployed to Iraq who begins to keep a journal of love and advice for his infant son.” Jordan stars opposite “The Photograph” star Chanté Adams, who “revisits the story of her unlikely, life-altering relationship with King and his enduring devotion to her and their child.”
