The saying goes, “You win some, you lose some,” and that’s exactly what happened to Offset.
On Tuesday, July 20, 2021, the Migos group member explained on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” how he lost 10 bands on the same night that he and his now-wife, mother of his children and female rapper Cardi B were on their first date.
He told guest host Anthony Anderson, “My first date, I went big. I wanted to do something that was not normally done, you know what I’m saying? I wanted to have fun … so I took her to the Super Bowl.” During this particular Super Bowl game the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots were playing against each other.
Offset recalled his team, the Atlanta Falcons, being up by three points with only three minutes left in the game, but that former long-time New England Patriots NFL player Tom Brady came in with “whatever powers he be having” and “ended us.” The game ended with the Patriots winning with a score of 34-28. This was bad news for Offset not only because of the loss. The Atlanta native had placed a hefty bet on the success of the Falcons.
“I lost $10,000 that night too,” said the “Ric Flair Drip” rapper. “But you know what I won,” Offset continued, “my wife.”
Offset and Cardi got married in 2017 after just a short time of dating, and have since had a few ups and downs. They were rocking for a while until December 2018 when Cardi split with Offset amid cheating rumors. They eventually got back together, but, in 2020, it was reported that Cardi filed for divorce. When the reports surfaced, Cardi assured her fans that it was not because of cheating but said “I just got tired of arguing.”
But less than a month later the two seemed to get back on track just in time for Cardi’s 28th birthday party. Now the two are gearing up to welcome their second child. They announced their pregnancy last month during their BET Awards performance.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephas, in 2018. Offset has three other children, a daughter and two sons, from previous relationships.
