Fans witnessed a match made in comedic heaven on Sunday, July 11, after Martin Lawrence‘s daughter Jasmin Lawrence disclosed that she was dating Eddie Murphy‘s eldest son Eric Murphy by penning a loving post in honor of his 32nd birthday. Both Martin and Eddie have previously worked together on the 1992 movie “Boomerang” and the film “Life,” which was released in theaters in 1999.
In the initial upload, the 25-year-old wrote how “incredibly blessed” she was to have Murphy by her side; this was accompanied by a couple of pictures of the seemingly happy couple. She said, “Happy birthday, my love! I’m so incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side. Cheers to many more blessings, laughs, and beautiful memories! I love you so much!! 🖤✨.” Murphy, who appreciated the kind sentiments, responded, “You’re so sweet. Thank you, my baby. I LOVE YOU!! ❤️ ❤️❤️❤️.”
Although it is unclear how long the pair has been an item, both Lawrence and Murphy have recently made their romance public by debuting images of each other on their respective Instagram accounts. Murphy shared a photo expressing his “love” for the Duke University alumna weeks before her initial birthday post. He said on June 24, “Head over heels in LOVE with YOU @jasmin_lawrence ❤️❤️❤️❤️ #myotherhalf #equallyyoked #iloveyou.”
As the news started circulating on social media, a multitude of fans of the comedic legends rejoiced upon discovering the revelation. Many of them brought up how great it would be to see the couple and their fathers all together as this relationship advances.
“That’ll be one funny a– family reunion.”
“I need them to have a wedding special if they get married. That’s going to be a hilarious event that I wanna see!”
“Talk about a funny relationship.”
“HERE FOR IT 👏👏👏 don’t forget my invite to ALL family functions. Thank you.”
An Instagram user even referenced “Life,” which starred Eddie and Martin, when sending their best wishes to the couple. “Wishing them all happiness for LIFE 😉.”
“Life” was a film based in the 1930s about two strangers’ friendship in prison after being wrongfully convicted. Martin recently paid tribute to Eddie by sharing a throwback image of the pair while on set. He wrote, “From driving all night to catch his show as a fan to becoming brothas and puttin in work. Truly an honor. #teammartymar #tbt #life.”
