Erica Mena has been going through a difficult time with her third pregnancy.
She and her estranged husband, Safaree Samuels, have fought publicly multiple times over the last year. In May, a month before giving birth to their second child, Mena filed for divorce. Days after giving birth, Mena revealed that she has been with her son in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for 10 days, while also updating her followers about how she’s doing.
The Thursday, July 8, post is a video of Erica Mena cradling her newborn son, Legend Brian Samuels. The background music she chose was Wizkid’s song “Blessed,” which is the fifth song on his newest album, “Made in Lagos.” The mother of three wrote in the lengthy caption, “New NICU Mommy. Day 10 Legend Brian Samuels & Mommy staying STRONG 🧿✨So far five out of the ten days I felt lost.”
She continued, “I’m feeling guilty, confused and scared. I’ve been getting phone calls and receiving messages. I’m asked a million times how I’m doing and if I’m ok. But how can you be doing? Can you really be ok right now? BUT I Remind myself , they love me and they are reaching out BECAUSE they love me. They might not understand, but they want to. This journey I’m on, feels long. It has been tough. I’m taking steps forward, and I’m taking some back.I have good days, and I’m preparing for the bad ones.”
In the rest of the caption, the “Love and Hip Hop” cast member continued to speak to herself, listing out several hardships that “will pass” over time. In the end, she talked about learning to “protect my peace” and “how important it is to turn my pain into power.” Mena added that her tough experience “has also given me a different type of strength for not only me but my kids. King – Safire – Legend I promise you your mommy will make you proud. No more settling and fighting for anything that doesn’t deserve me only because you three forever deserve the best of me.”
While Mena appears to be going through a journey of healing, Samuels seems to be enjoying his life. Since their split, he’s made plenty of club appearances and has been seen dancing with other women. His birthday was on July 4, and to celebrate he went back to his roots: Jamaica. The same day Mena posted her video, Samuels posted a video of him dancing topless with a few of his buddies.
Fans fired off on Samuels for not being in the NICU with his child. One person said, “ Dude something ain’t right about him , his newborn is in the hospital , he shouldn’t partying this much , he should be by his baby and baby mother side supporting !!! Smh 🤦♀️ something is wrong with that picture !”
Former “Love and Hip Hop” reality star Masika Kalysha even commented saying, “Ok 🔥 that dance lit. Now shimmy on over to the icu 🙄😒.” Someone else said, “We the Jamaican 🇯🇲 people nah claim him…. We nuh want him a rass.”
