Janet Jackson Two-Night Documentary to be Presented By Lifetime and A&E Networks Next Year, Fans Rejoice

Janet Jackson’s distinguished life and entertainment career will be presented in the form of a four-hour documentary, multiple media outlets have reported. Lifetime and A&E will be holding the event in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Jackson’s 1982 self-titled debut album.

The documentary, simply titled “JANET,” will span over two nights and air on both television networks simultaneously. The press release describes the film as the “definitive story on Janet Jackson, one of the best-selling and highest-earning artists in music history.” It continued, “Janet has enjoyed immense success but also seen incredible tragedy. She has endured a tumultuous private life in the face of extraordinary public scrutiny. With no stone left unturned, ‘JANET’ lifts the lid of her private life for the very first time and reveals the most intimate moments of the star ever caught on camera.”

“With full unprecedented access to the music icon, ‘JANET’ will be an intimate, honest, and unfiltered look at her untold story,” a statement from A&E networks read. “Producers Workerbee have been filming the incredible documentary for three years and have been granted exclusive access to archival footage, and Janet’s never before seen home videos, along with star-studded interviews.”

The “Why Did I Get Married” star will discuss some of the most noteworthy moments in her career, including her infamous 2004 Super Bowl halftime show performance with Justin Timberlake, the untimely death of music icon and her brother Michael Jackson, and even her journey becoming a mother later on in life.

Filming on the project began around the time of the death of Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, “the pivotal figure in the Jackson Dynasty” and followed the singer as she made her return to the world stage following her abrupt departure from the music scene.

Fans of the Grammy award winner have already expressed their interest in the project on social media. One Twitter user commented, “All I know is…VARIETY, LIFETIME & A&E, you all better not f-ck this up!” They added, “We want quality interviews & quality factual story lines plus JANET deserves sooo much better than the majority of bullsh-t documentaries that have been airing lately! I pray Janet takes the reigns full on.”

Another wrote, “I cant wait!! Janet is producing this. It is NOT a movie of her life and career like Aaliyah or Clark Sisters. Since Janet has final say, I am REALLY excited about this!”

Ben Hirsch will serve as the director of “JANET,” while Jackson and Randy Jackson (no relation) will executive produce.
