‘That Is Probably Why He Got Fired’: Mathew Knowles Calls People Who Compare Chloe Bailey to Beyoncé ‘Idiot,’ and Fans Respond

Mathew Knowles is not here for people comparing Chloe Bailey to her mentor and his daughter Beyoncé. On Wednesday, March 3, Mathew appeared as a guest on Leah Henry’s online show “The Lemonade Stand,” where he was asked if he agrees with some fans’ opinions that Chloe Bailey reminds them of a younger Beyoncé.

Mathew replied at 53:43, “You got to be kidding me, right? You asking me that question?” Making a facial expression that conveyed both disgust and confusion, he continued, “Are you actually serious that you are comparing that young lady to Beyoncé.” Pressing the issue more, Mathew said, “Are you telling me talent-wise somebody is an idiot enough to compare her to Beyoncé?” After calling the people who think Bailey is comparable to Beyoncé idiots, he said, “That’s actually insulting to Beyoncé.”

He also suggested that maybe Bailey could be compared to a Barbra Streisand and the subject ended with him saying, “I want to get off this topic. I don’t even want to talk about it.”

Fans commented that Knowles’ reaction “was uncalled for,” and suggested that instead of being rude, “A simple she’s talented would’ve sufficed.”

Others saw nothing wrong with his response and said, “He’s suppose to stan for his daughter like that!!”

“This is probably why he got fired😬 He ain’t have to say it like that💀😂,” said another fan.

Knowles’ brusque manner aside, it is widely believed the real reason why Beyoncé fired her father as her manager in 2011 is she speculated that he was stealing money from her. Legal papers filed by Knowles in a 2011 suit said Live Nation Entertainment claimed to her that he “had stolen money from Beyoncé on her most recent tour or otherwise taken funds that [he] was not entitled to.”

Although Mathew denied any claims of malfeasance, reportedly Beyoncé’s law firm conducted an audit and confirmed Live Nation’s claims.
