VH1’s “Basketball Wives” is slated to make its return in less than a month. While some cast mates have already announced their departures, including franchise veteran Tami Roman and CeCe Gutierrez, others are making surprise returns.
Ogom “OG” Chijindu recently confirmed that she would be returning for season 9 of the popular reality show. Earlier last week, the reality star shared a clip from “The Wendy Williams Show” in which Wendy spoke about the show’s return and what cast mates fans could expect to see. In her caption, OG thanked the host for mentioning her during her “Hot Topics” segment.
As fans of the series may remember, season 8 was quite explosive. OG clashed with several of her fellow cast mates, including Malaysia Pargo, Feby Torres, and Kristen Scott. During season 8, the athlete brought up how Kristen’s husband was not former Los Angeles Lakers great Byron Scott’s biological son, a move that left her ostracized by many of her co-stars.
However, OG’s most infamous feud was with Evelyn Lozada, which heavily involved Evelyn’s ex-husband and former Cincinnati Bengal star Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. OG claimed that the former NFL star tried to hook up with her, among other things. Chad never directly confirmed or denied those allegations. Evelyn went as far in response as unsuccessfully seeking a restraining order against OG — a saga co-star Jennifer Williams seemingly found comical.
Nonetheless, fans seem ready for OG to make her comeback, even as many wondered why would she come back following the spectacle that last season became. MadameNoire reported that when a fan questioned OG about her return, the reality star replied, “i’M JUST HERE SO iDON’T GET FiNED,” a phrase made popular by NFL running back Marshawn Lynch, who routinely showed up to postgame press conferences to answer almost every question with “I’m just here so I don’t get fined.” Joking or not, in OG’s case, she appears to be in a contract.
Still, fans expressed that they would be tuning in despite having reservations about watching before OG’s confirmation. One fan wrote, “The only reason I will be watching glad you’re on it.”
Another wrote, “If you didn’t come back I wouldn’t be watching I’m a OG fan you’re Beautiful, Real, Smart and great at getting chicks together.” They added, “I respect you for coming back even though I was over this show.”
