Fans of Denzel Washington were immediately concerned upon the news that fire crews had descended upon Washington’s Los Angeles home after reports of smoke Wednesday night.
Local news stations in California, such as CBSLA, reported about police and fire crews responding to a call concerning a fire on Beverly Park Circle in Beverly Hills, California, where Washington reportedly lives.
According to authorities, smoke was viewed emerging from the second floor of what is being described as a “multi-level home” in the first block of Beverly Park Circle
The Los Angeles Fire Department said that after an extensive search of the residence with thermal imaging cameras, there was no “active fire” found.
According to the department, the smoke emanating from the second floor was concluded to have originated from a furnace in the home that was recently worked on and “taken offline.”
In a statement gathered by CBSLA, the department said, “The investigation is largely focused on one of several furnaces in the home that may have been recently serviced.”
Everyone inside the home got out safely. No injuries were present and all the occupants were given clearance to go back inside after 10:30 p.m. as the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills fire crews left the scene.
Washington’s home currently spans 28,887 square feet, and is located in Beverly Park, an extremely exclusive area of Beverly Hills. According to RealEstateAgent, the home is replete with an outdoor pool, tennis court, eight bedrooms, and 14 bathrooms. The location is larger in size and scope than the actor’s former L.A. home in Toluca Lake.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Denzel bought the home from Michael Eisner, former chief executive officer of the Walt Disney Company, and paid $2.675 million for the home in 1992. Zillow estimates its value at over $80 million while the LA County property records suggest it is closer to $16.5 million.
Mark Wahlberg is also said to live in the area, along with several tech billionaires and a number of Saudi princes.
It is not currently known if Washington was at the house on Wednesday night, CBSLA reported.
