Fans came to Toya Bush-Harris‘ defense after the “Married to Medicine” star received backlash for sharing a glamorous shot showing off her new look on Wednesday during the vice presidential debate between Vice President Mike Pence and vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris.
On Oct. 7 the mother of three captioned the video of herself swaying her head side to side while giving fans a glimpse of her hazel contacts lenses. “What did she say??? 🤭😜😜 Lovin my Glam!!! @femmecollectionofficial @keesiface @j.taylor_mua,” Bush-Harris captioned the post. Among over 140 comments on the post, many felt the timing of Toya’s video was inappropriate given the importance of the evening. However, others were quick to jump to her defense.

The reason behind the scrutiny was because many people felt the reality star wasn’t using her platform of almost half a million followers to talk about voting and the importance of it with the Election Day right around the corner, as many other high-profile celebrities have been doing. Harris, who stayed mum as the flak poured in, must’ve gotten word about what was happening in her comments section, because days after the incident the “M2M” star posted on her Instagram Story the political team she was rooting for. The banner said, “Make America Care Again Biden Harris 2020.”
This was just another recent instance of the stay-at-home mom weathering a storm of criticism on social media. Back in August, the reality star revealed on Instagram that her twin sons went back to school in the middle of a pandemic. According to Urban Belle, after one of her followers commented on how she could have homeschooled her children instead of spending her money on frivolous things, Harris clapped back by saying, “And you let me parent my children and stop trying to judge, shame, and voice useless comments on my IG!”
