“Real Housewives of Atlanta“ star Cynthia Bailey and her former cast mate and friend Eva Marcille sat down in a new interview on Monday with Extra TV correspondent Rachel Lindsay to talk about Nene Leakes‘ departure from the franchise and Bailey’s upcoming nuptials.
During the virtual interview on Oct. 5, Bailey, who is currently filming season 13 of the hit reality show, said at 0:17 mark that she was surprised by the situation because Leakes was an original member of the show when it premiered back in 2008. “I was surprised … Nene’s been over here from the beginning. I feel like she brings a lot to the show, when you think of the ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ she is one of the first ladies you think of.” The bride-to-be even paid homage to Leakes. “She helped build the platform that Eva and I have been working on now.”
Marcille, who announced back in June that she was leaving “RHOA” after three seasons, said at 0:40 mark that despite her history with Leakes, it was sad to see her leave. “I hit Nene up, I told her, ‘Hold your head, Queen.’ She has done amazing things to create the franchise and the legacy that is ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ and she will definitely be missed.”
Later in the interview, Bailey who is getting married within days to fiancé Mike Hill, disclosed how difficult it was to keep to the wedding date during a pandemic.
“For me, the most stressful for Mike and I is making sure we are … following the COVID-19 rules and regulations, also putting people in place to enforce them,” Bailey said.
The 52-year-old also added that their wedding will be different from typical weddings.
“We literally almost scared our guests about coming at this point, we’re going to have security there if you don’t keep your mask on,” she added. “We have indoor, outdoor. No one is confined to a traditional wedding situation.”
The couple are scheduled to walk down the aisle on Oct. 10.
