Gabrielle Union had fans hype, on Sunday, Sept. 20, over her new rap which was in the style similar to that of Issa Rae’s character on the HBO series, “Insecure.” During the 72nd Annual Emmy Awards, Union’s rap popped up to creatively introduce “Insecure” as a nominee for the Outstanding Comedy Series category.
In a video posted on Sept. 20, Union is seen standing in an unknown space looking off-camera, doing her makeup. She is dressed in a white robe and polka dot bonnet when she suddenly looks over her shoulder, turns back around and starts rapping.
“Issa and the girls, lit. Plus I like they outfits,” she said as she completed her first bar.
Getting more hype she continued, “Insecure not the best show? Trick, stop it. Black Girl Magic, my girls do their duty. Plus in the love scenes they show the boys booties.”
The actress then suddenly turned around to check and make sure no one was coming. After noticing that the coast is clear she continued, “Yeah I said what I said. The show’s mad funny. Issa’s trying to find herself, Molly’s got money.”
By this time, Union’s husband, Dwyane Wade, has come around the corner bobbing his head and looking at his phone as his wife continued to spit: “They’re in and out of love. It’s oh so cute to see. And did I mention in the love scenes they show the boys’ booties?!”
“Gab,” Wade said letting his wife know that she had been caught.
Union then said, “I got to go. Go Insecure!! Team Lawrence,” as she ducked off and ran.
“Insecure” did not end up winning the award. However, Issa Rae got to see Union’s video and even commented on it on Instagram.
She said, “You are the realest and the illest. Thank you for blessing us.”
Fans also chimed in on the video.
“it’s the way you keep looking back 😭😭.”
“It’s the walk up from the hubby and the ending fo me😂😂😂🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤👑👑👑.”
“This was tooo funny!! “Gab!” 😂😂🔥❤️😂.”
