‘It’s the Open Shirt For Me’: Cedric the Entertainer Has Fans in Stitches After He Claims ‘Zaddy’ status

At 56 years old, comedian Cedric the Entertainer says he still has that “Zaddy” factor.

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, “The Neighborhood” star hopped over to his Instagram page and shared a photo of himself in orange banana print beach pants and an open white button-down with goldfish prints. “#Zaddying. Late post great weekend with the Fam,” the comedian captioned the snap. He added, “#ThirstyTrapJones. #OneAb #SoRozay.”

Cedric’s 2.5 million Instagram fans were left in stitches at the funny man’s abundance of confidence. Fans couldn’t help but take a few jabs at the actor, including one user who commented, “Starting to look like the old guy in barbershop now lol,” referencing “The Barbershop” film franchise Cedric has appeared in over the years.

Another user jokingly wrote, “it’s the open shirt for me 🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🏾🙌🏾,” while another fan commented, “Looks like you bout to ask yo nephew to send you the link To that mega personals add you seen him look at…😂🤦🏾‍♂️🤣 you looking healthy unk #freshcells.”

But not all comments were mean. Some fans cheered on Cedric and showered the star with body-positive compliments. One user wrote, “You look amazing Ced keep up the good work.” While another fan commented, “U look skinnier Ceddie!! 💯❤️💯. Can’t wait for the new season of #TheNeighborhood.”

It appears that the “Johnson Family Vacation” star has been on a wave of getting back in shape. The day before, Cedric shared a photo on his Instagram account of himself, former NBA player Nick Young, and other friends at the gym seemingly after an intense workout —Cedric appeared in the snap soaked in sweat. “Getting ready for summer…… next summer😂😂😂. Dont hate!” the actor captioned the image.

Fans gave the comedian credit for at least trying to achieve a better lifestyle despite his delayed timing. One fan who wrote, “We got start somewhere Unc Ced! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.” Another fan commented, “Yo Ceddy! Why does it look like you transforming into something bigger 🤷.”

A third fan shared that they, too, had started going back to the gym and had already seen results. “I feel ya! I actually lost 50 lbs for this summer and got my 6 pack back and there ain’t anyone outside to witness!!,” the fan wrote, adding, “All the swimming pools were closed up! I’m just swole up for no reason…SMH! 😂😂😂.”

Still independent.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

The wider picture isn't any steadier. Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under, it's rarely the ones built to center a Black perspective from the ground up that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
