Jordin Sparks Says Her Toddler is ‘More Than Enough,’ Reveals There’s No Plans For a Second Kid

Jordin Sparks may have heard the old saying that having one child makes you a parent and having two makes you a referee, as the singer recently revealed that she has zero plans to expand their family.

During a press run for her latest project, “Sounds Like Me,” the season-six “American Idol” winner sat down with Us Weekly and spoke candidly about motherhood and the possibility of having more children. The 30-year-old Sparks and her husband, Dana Isaiah, share a two-year-old son, DJ.

“Yeah, I’m good with one. We’re both good,” Sparks explained. “I can’t say what’s going to happen in the future, but I’m, like, very sure that it’s still gonna stay just one.”

The “No Air” singer admitted that throughout the years trying to be present for her son and husband had been challenging enough and that she couldn’t see herself being there for another child. The “Sparkle” star went on to say that her toddler was “more than enough” and an “amazing” child.

“As a mom, knowing myself and going through this for the first time, I’m just like, ‘You know what? I want to be able to keep my focus on DJ,’ ” Sparks said. “Because trying to split the attention from Dana to DJ was a lot for me. I’m a giver. I love to be nurturing, and I just don’t know if I’d be able to take care of myself as much if I expanded.”

Sparks and Isaiah both met and tied the knot in 2017. Less than a year later, the couple welcomed their first child together in May 2018. Later in the interview, the “Tattoo” singer gushed over her little one’s many milestones saying that “Being able to express what he wants has been really, really nice, especially in this time when he can run around the park [during the coronavirus pandemic].” She added, “He sleeps through the night. He’s handled [quarantine] like a champ.”

As of now, it seems as if Sparks is focused on her being there for her son and being the best mother she can be, even in her music, calling her latest EP “a fun one.” “I’m a mom now, so I want all my mom friends to feel like they can still have a good time,” sparks said. She added, “It’s OK. They’ll have a good time. I just wanted to do something fun, and I wanted people to see that as well with the video.”
