Nene Leakes ostensibly has not signed her contract for season 13 of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and her cast mates are apparently “a little annoyed” at Nene for not filling out her paperwork. Hollywood Life cited a source close to production as saying that Leakes’ co-stars “feel she does this every year and puts herself on this pedestal and they just roll their eyes a bit over it.” Her fellow cast members are reportedly “not surprised” that she has not yet confirmed whether she will be returning to the franchise.
The news comes more than a week after Nene revealed in an Instagram Live chat that her contract is still under negotiation and blamed the network for the delay. “I’m still in a holding pattern. Let me start there. And also, I wanna be able to say that, it’s not me, it’s them. Every single season when it ends for at least the last three to four seasons, I have been dealing with this going back and forth. It’s not me, it’s them,” she said in the July 29 post.
Despite what some people may think, the OG Housewife stressed that she is not the one holding out until the last minute to sign her paperwork. “A negotiation does take time, but I can’t move their pens any faster than they move them themselves or I can’t make their emails work,” she added.
The mother of two then proceeded to bring up certain complaints that she has received from the network and her cast mates that were brought to her attention while she was negotiating her contract. Nene mentioned that the ladies on the show no longer want her to refer to herself as a “HBIC” and a “queen,” revealing that the girls claimed they were tired of hearing the 52-year-old actress call herself those names.
She also claimed that she was accused of hitting a producer on the show. Nene clarified that she grabbed the T-shirt of a camera operator and the T-shirt ripped. The television personality said the production company never took any legal action against her for that incident. Rumors sparked that the “Glee” alum quit the show after she closed her computer and stormed off during part 2 of the “RHOA.” reunion.
Nene shared that the Bravo executives were not happy with her after she left the special. She then proceeded to compare her incident to the actions of her former co-star Kim Zolciak-Biermann. Kim quit the show in the middle of season 5 and then went on to film her spinoff show “Don’t Be Tardy.”
According to Hollywood Life, Kenya Moore, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Williams, and Kandi Burruss have already started filming for the upcoming season. The ladies reportedly all want Nene to return to the franchise “because she does make good TV, but they’re fine with her departing.” Actress Drew Sidora reportedly secured a peach for the show’s 13th season.
Bravo has not responded to Atlanta Black Star’s attempts to obtain clarification about Leakes’ claims.
