‘I’ve Forgiven Her a Long Time Ago’: ‘Married to Medicine’ Creator Mariah Huq Opens Up About Her Falling-Out with Quad Webb

Mariah Huq is getting candid about her estranged friendship with Quad Webb. The “Married to Medicine” creator and executive producer dished in an exclusive interview with Atlanta Black Star about forgiveness, the downfall of her friendship with Quad because of reality television, and the status of their friendship today.

Mariah and Quad were thick as thieves during the first five seasons of “M2M,” but their friendship took a turn for the worse in season 6 when Mariah claimed Quad slept with her brother-in-law. Mariah based this accusation on a claim that she and her sister went to Quad’s house and saw Quad wearing her brother-in-law’s T-shirt and smelling like him and his business cards. The former “Sister Circle” talk show host denied the allegations. While the two have not publicly mended their friendship, Mariah explained that she was open to forgiving Quad.

“I’m always open. I’m always open to hear what she has to say and open to forgiveness. I’ve forgiven her a long time ago,” she said. When asked if she believes their friendship will go back to normal following their feud, she responded: “I don’t know. I really don’t know. I haven’t talked to Quad. I think she’s a different person, and I think that’s OK. We’re all supposed to grow.” While Quad’s alleged betrayal played a role in the demise of their friendship, Mariah expressed that starring in a hit reality television also contributed to the destruction of their relationship.

“I think reality TV can put a strain on your relationship, and I think especially when you have two big personalities. I think that the goal of the producers are to tear the big personalities apart and make them think that they’re more enemies,” she stressed. “I think a lot of the times you’re thicker together than you are apart, so I think the goal is to kind of divide and conquer. So I think that the show in itself was a large part of the divide of me and Quad. I don’t want to speak on my sister and her situation because she’s not on the show, and I don’t think it’s fair to her. But I think that the show in itself was a lot of the divide of me and Quad.”

The Chattanooga native insinuated that she and Quad are still not friends, but she shared that she is ready to move past the drama. Season 8 of “M2M” is temporarily on hold because of the pandemic, so an official air date has not yet been released. Despite production coming to a short halt, Mariah revealed her wish for the upcoming season.

“With everything that’s going on in the world, I would hope that everybody could come back with a different mentality,” mentioning that now is not the time for the ladies to be against each other because there are bigger problems in the world.
