‘Y’all Know Who Her Grandfather Is’: Porsha Williams Joins Protest, Starts Chants on Streets of Atlanta

The death of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Black man George Floyd after an officer kneeled on his neck on Memorial Day has sparked a wave of protests across America, including in Atlanta.

Many citizens have taken to the streets to express their grievances about police brutality and racism in the country against Black people, including “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality diva Porsha Williams.

Williams, the granddaughter of civil rights leader Hosea Williams, took a page from her grandfather’s legacy by taking to the streets of Atlanta on Saturday, May 30, to protest for “Black Lives Matter.”

Williams can be heard starting the chant “hands up, don’t shoot” among a group of protesters in a video that garnered over a million views on The Shade Room.

“Y’all stop playing with my girl Porsha y’all know who her granddaddy was.”

“That’s right, Porsha, 👏🏾👏🏾 continue your grandfather’s legacy !!!”

“Porsha is a real one 🤞🏿❤️.”

“Hosea Williams would be proud ✨.”

“She follows in the steps of her family always! 🙏🏾.”

“Use your platform, sis!!”

Williams’ actions weren’t all met with favorable views. Some believed that the reality star was recording for clout and questioned her motives.

“Ppl do anything for clout.”

“Clouts chaser 😒….. y’all didn’t say nothing till now… NEXT.”

“She left right after that clip.”

Some users also clowned one of Williams’ infamous moments on “RHOA” when she thought the Underground Railroad was an actual railroad with a train.

“The same Porsha that thought the underground railroad was a real railroad?🥴🤷🏾‍♀️.”

“She thought the Underground Railroad was an Actual Train 😂.”

Fans of the 38-year-old came to her defense against those assuming Williams was marching for attention.

“Why do people think it’s for clout smh? Her grandfather is Hosea Williams, one of the iconic people of the Civil Rights movement 🤔.”

“Y’all kill me when celebrities don’t do anything; it’s a problem when they do it’s a problem. Who better to film or capture a photo than a person with over 1 million followers?”

“Please check Porsha’s family resume! Activists since been 👌🏽no clout chasing at all, my girl and her family is always doing something for their community 🎯‼️❤️.”

Whether social media users believe that Williams is marching for clout or fame, one thing for sure is she is speaking out on her Instagram page against the wrongful deaths of several African-American men and women.

“As well as #JusticeforDesto all in 2020 #Justice4All #EnoughIsEnough,” she captioned a post of a collage of memes about recent deaths of unarmed Black people at the hands of white people, including Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor.
