‘This is Major’: Diddy Raises Over $3.7 Million With His Celeb-Filled Easter Dance-a-thon

Sean “Diddy” Combs accomplished two things with the dance-a-thon he held on Easter Sunday.

One, he gave a bunch of people a nice diversion while they’re self-quarantining during the current pandemic And, two, he raised $3,731,345 for health care workers.

For the dance-a-thon, Combs’ Team Love partnered with Direct Relief, an organization that’s giving medical supplies to health care workers in underserved areas as the virus rages on.

“We are having the WORLD’S BIGGEST DANCE-A-THON and YOU ARE ALL INVITED!!!!” Combs wrote on Instagram the day before the event. “So let’s ALL DANCE TOGETHER and raise money for our healthcare workers to let them know how much we appreciate them!”

To say the online party was celebrity-filled would be an understatement, because stars who participated included LeBron James, Lizzo, Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys.

Combs’ ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez and her beau Alex Rodriguez also attended virtually, as did Tracee Ellis Ross and Drake. Oprah Winfrey made the first donation, but the amount wasn’t revealed.

Combs danced to classic Bad Boy tunes during parts of the event, with some of his children in the room too, including his twin girls D’Lila Star and Jessie James, as well as his sons Christian Combs and Quincy Brown.

People left comments on Combs’ Instagram page throughout the dance-a-thon and told him how much they appreciate his efforts.

“Love this! Thank you for using your platform for a great cause. This is major! I sent in my donation 🙌🏾👏🏽❤️ Happy Easter,” wrote one of his followers.

“This was one of the best moments today…been watching all day❤️,” wrote someone else.

Combs has joined other celebrities who’ve either raised or given money towards virus relief efforts. Recently, it was revealed that Rihanna donated some $5 million to relief efforts in the United States, Africa, and the Caribbean.

Plus, Jay-Z and Meek Mill donated thousands of surgical masks to a number of prisons in the U.S. earlier this month.

Other celebrities who’ve shown generosity during this time include Ciara and Russell Wilson, who said they’ll donate 1 million meals to a Seattle, food bank.

On top of that, Steph and Ayesha Curry revealed they’ll give 1 million meals to students in Oakland, California.
