Tamera Mowry-Housley is seemingly not afraid to show off her gray hair. Mowry-Housley, a co-host on “The Real,” said the pandemic was preventing her from making her way to the hair salon. She claims she’s practicing social distancing and implied that she was letting her natural hair grow out while she has been in her house the past several weeks.
Mowry-Housley braided her tresses into a halo braid that gave viewers a full view of her gray strands near her hairline. The 41-year-old former teen actress sat on her bed as she sported a natural makeup look and clear lip gloss to make her lips pop. “Hello grays. No getting my hair done during #socialdistancing, and I’m okay with it,” she admitted to her social media followers in her caption. Mowry-Housley’s hair confidence led fans to praise her for embracing her natural appearance.
“Silver linings of wisdom 👌🏽,” a fan wrote.
“I love the gray on you! It’s pretty 💛,” a second user gushed.
A third fan said, “Embrace the grey sista 😍😍😍😍.”
“Tia showing her stretch marks, you showing your gray hairs. Self-love is everything, thank you! Love you ♥️,” a fourth user praised.
“Your hair looks gorgeous with the grays!” a fifth user wrote excitedly.
A sixth fan commented, “Yessss beautiful!!!! I love it😍😍😍 she’s aging BACKWARDS😍😍😍😍.”
Mowry-Housley is taking her self-care regimen seriously, just like twin sister, Tia Mowry-Hardrict. Mowry-Housley has said on “The Real” that she feels her prettiest when she wears her natural curls and goes makeup-free. In an Instagram post from last October, she said she’d never felt more confident than she has since reaching her 40s and she maintains her figure by practicing pilates.
By comparison, Mowry-Hardrict recently embraced her natural figure on the internet. The “Family Reunion” actress showed fans the stretch marks on her stomach that she was left with after giving birth to her baby girl, Cairo Tiahna Hardrict, in 2018, in the hopes of inspiring women to love their bodies.
The “Sister, Sister” actresses have been best friends their entire lives, but they couldn’t be more different. Mowry-Housley revealed on the April 11, 2016, episode of “The Real” that her experience growing up as a twin was difficult. She shared that people have always compared her and her sister to each other, and when she was younger, she and her sister would read “Sister, Sister” fan mail and one message in particular caused her to have low self-esteem. Mowry-Housley said a fan wrote her a letter calling her the “ugly and goofy twin.” She told viewers for years afterward she viewed herself as ugly.
Mowry-Housley now suggests that mean words no longer hold any power over her life. Despite whatever comparisons people might make between her and her sister, she says she knows they are both beautiful and their bond will never be broken.
