‘I Kind of Love Being the Friend’: Tanya Sam Loves Being on ‘RHOA’ But Says She Has No Interest in Earning a Peach

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” friend of the show Tanya Sam has managed to bond with each of her cast mates and fly above most of the drama, and although she seems to have a great time filming, Sam says she has no interest in gaining a full-time peach.

While chatting with fans last week, Sam revealed that much of her decision has to do with wanting to maintain her sense of autonomy.

“I kind of love being the friend to the show. It’s really the best of both worlds,” explained Sam.

Considering the web of mess that cast mate Kenya Moore tried to spin around the tech industry entrepreneur, it’s not hard to understand how living her life on her terms is something she would want to maintain.

“I have autonomy, no one can tell me when you have to show up for what, I can still travel, so I kind of like it. I get to host trips. I get to travel, and when I have to work I can go, ‘Sorry, guys, I can’t show up for eight hours of taping today because I have to work,’” added Sam during the recent Instagram Live chat.

Sam, who hails from Toronto, Canada, is often the burst of positive energy needed amongst her fellow cast members Nene Leakes, Cynthia Bailey, Kandi Burruss, Porsha Williams and Eva Marcille.

Even when faced with the perfect opportunity to step out of character — e.g., when Moore invited the “Cookie Lady” to a cast lunch after learning that Sam’s fiancé was allegedly flirting with the woman — Sam refuses to fall for the mess, further endearing fans with her tactful and classy personality. Instead, she keeps a smile on her face, a quirky dance move on standby, and lets the good times continue to roll.
