‘The Baddest’: Toya Wright Fans Go Gaga After She Flosses Her Sophisticated ‘Do’

It looks like Toya Wright is becoming a trendsetter when it comes to her hair.

The “T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle” star chopped off her hair nearly three months ago and decided to rock a short pixie cut. On Saturday, she posted a beauty shot of herself sporting a high-glam makeup look and rocking her hair in finger waves.

Clearly feeling herself, Wright captioned her closeup “Wavy 🌊” and racked up more than 150,000 likes. Fans showered her post with compliments while gushing over beauty and hair.

“Beauty she is 😍 I love short hair on you @toyawright now thats so sophisticated!”

“U r soo pretty but look soooooo prettier natural. The baddest 💣🔥 “

“Nice & retro toya! Looking guud mama!❤️ I can’t get enough of these finger waves”

“I’m trying to this wave and get my hair cut off lol. You’re so pretty! Such a trendsetter ❤️ loving it!”

Wright initially debuted her new sexy and sassy haircut on Saturday, Sept. 21, with a video of herself at a hair salon in Atlanta.

Shocking fans and receiving over 447,000 likes on her post of her hairdo, she wrote in her caption, “I’m loving my new look @hairbylatise.”

Although Wright, 36, clearly loved her new look, her fiancé Robert “Red” Rushing, 31, wasn’t too impressed with her new ’do.

“😍 damn she do look, but she still done lost her damn mind,” Rushing wrote underneath her comment section.

Clearly, the 2 Commas Clothing brand owner loves Wright despite any hairstyle she decides to rock. As a matter of fact, the couple got engaged last week.

The mother of two shared the wonderful news to her seven million followers via Instagram on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and thanked Rushing for being “all of what a man should be.”

The couple share 1-year-old daughter Reign Rushing, whom they welcomed in February 2018. Wedding details for their special day have yet to be released.

Still independent.

We hope this story was worth your time. For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed Black-owned and independently run. We didn't get here by waiting on ad budgets that were never built to prioritize us. Our readers did that.

Corporate support for Black media has always been thin. Outlets like ours get roughly 1% of the $170 billion spent on U.S. advertising each year, and that margin is shrinking further as advertisers walk back the DEI-linked commitments they made in 2020. That's the backdrop. It's not why we're asking.

The wider picture isn't any steadier. Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under, it's rarely the ones built to center a Black perspective from the ground up that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
