Niecy Nash sent fans reeling Wednesday when she announced her plans to split from husband Jay Tucker.
The “Claws” actress made the news public Oct. 30 by posting a message on her Instagram account.
“We believe in the beauty of truth,” the couple’s memo began. “Always have. Our truth is that in this season of our lives, we are better friends than partners in marriage. Our union was such a gorgeous ride. And as we go our separate ways now, we feel fortunate for the love we share – present tense. Thank you all out there for your support of us as a couple over the last eight years. We are grateful.”
Nash and Tucker, an electrical engineer, quickly fell for each other after meeting at a Labor Day party in 2009. They wed in 2011 and have no children together.
Perhaps hoping to keep fans’ judgments at bay, Nash closed the comments section of her post as well as those of a Halloween post she made Thursday.
Still, folks managed to make their feelings known elsewhere on Instagram.
“Nooooooooooo”
“The energy when announcing their split is the kind of energy I love to see 🤷🏽♀️ She’s a beautiful soul wishing her the best ❤️”
“Dam it’s break up season”
“THIS WAS HANDLED WITH CLASS OK‼️”
“Damn I love her but she can’t keep a man ! I hope she finds love one day seriously 😪😩”
“Well it lasted longer then Sherri Shepard 😂🤣”
It was Shepherd whom Nash introduced to her own ex-husband, Lamar Sally, in 2014. However, Shepherd recently disclosed that the majority of her close pals, including former “The View” host Barbara Walters and comedians Steve Harvey and D.L. Hughley, warned her against marrying the man Hughley described as a “sorry-ass dude.”
“Everybody said that … Everybody tried to tell me,” she said on “The D.L. Hughley Show” in September before explaining that her split with Sally threatened her friendship with long-time bestie Nash.
“We had a big blowout. We did,” she explained. “I said, ‘Niecy, I will never go out with anybody you introduce me to.’ We came to a meeting of the minds yesterday, we were together, she said, ‘Would you just go out?’ I said, ‘Yeah, but I’m not going to get married to any of your recommendations.'”
