‘He Wants Me to Shut Up’: Kandi Burruss Nearly Spills the Beans, Husband Todd Tucker Won’t Stand for It

It seems Kandi Burruss won’t be sharing too much about her and husband Todd Tucker’s journey toward expanding their family — at least not before the new season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” bows on Nov. 3.

The reality TV star briefly began opening up about the process when she visited V-103’s “The Morning Culture” Friday, Oct. 18.

“And then we got a baby on the way,” Burruss says after sharing about her clothing store Tags Boutique coming up on its 10 year anniversary. “I hadn’t even really talked about it. Why did I do that?”

Asked by host Big Tigger to explain how she’s expecting since she’s remained slim, Burruss shared that she and her husband have a surrogate.

“Last year on the show, I think we touched on the fact that we were considering it, and thinking about it and working on it — of course you’re nervous through the process but the young lady that is helping us is amazing,” she shared.

However, a phone call from Tucker led Burruss to remain tight-lipped and she offered no more information on the matter. She didn’t even answer a question about the baby’s sex, which she previously disclosed was a girl.

“My husband just called me, so I guess he wants me to shut up,” she says, declining Tucker’s call. Undeterred, Tucker called back and Burruss answered on-air.

“You ain’t supposed to be talking about the baby!” he tells her.

“All right, I’m in trouble. OK. He called me to check me,” Burruss says after her brief call with Tucker. “Yeah, I’m not supposed to be talking about it, so let me shut up. I’m excited, though. So I’ma just leave you with that.”

Burruss first opened up about her desire to add to her family on “RHOA” season 11. At the time, now-17-year-old daughter Riley Burruss wanted no parts of it.

“I feel fine telling you to leave them in the freezer,” the teen told her mom after Burruss explained she didn’t “feel right” leaving her two existing female embryos frozen.

Riley explained her mom and stepdad are always away, meaning they wouldn’t be around often to raise a new baby. But by the time November 2018 rolled around, Burruss confirmed she and Tucker were moving forward with a surrogate, despite Tucker’s initial hesitation.

“We decided we want to get a surrogate,” Burruss said to Us Weekly. “I guess we’re not taping anymore, so I guess I can tell you that we did find someone, and right now we are in the process — you know it hasn’t been done — but we’re in the process.”

She also said Riley came around, admitting her daughter “said that when we had Ace, and now she’s in love with Ace.”
