Kandi Burruss is never one to shy away from a business opportunity. “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star reportedly earns $2.3 million from the show, but there’s a lot more moola to be had when it comes to her other ventures. Below are five ways Burruss makes money outside of reality TV.
Setting Up Shop
With Tags Boutique, Burruss was one of the first “RHOA” stars to step into the world of fashion retail. The singer launched the store in Atlanta’s suburb of Smyrna/Vinings 2009, and it now has multiple locations, including one in Las Vegas. It’s touted as selling stylish, luxury fashions at affordable rates, according to the website.
A Family Affair
Inspired by her mother and aunt’s recipes, Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker opened Old Lady Gang Southern eatery in 2017. The Atlanta restaurant has proved so successful that lines have steadily been out the door, prompting a second location to open in the suburb of East Point in 2018. Burruss also opened OLG in State Farm Arena, making it available for folks who want to enjoy special menu items while watching the Atlanta Hawks play.
Burgeoning Beauty Star
Burruss has said that her name lends itself to many things, and that applies to her relatively new makeup line, Kandi Koated Cosmetics. The singer announced plans to launch the effort on social media in August 2018 and made it official by June 2019. Much like Rihanna‘s Fenty Beauty, Burruss aims to celebrate diversity with her line of metallic eyeshadows and fun lipstick shades.
Keeping Things Sexy
Burruss launched her adult toy line Bedroom Kandi in 2011 with five products but it now includes hundreds, according to the website. A home party side of the business was launched in 2012 to “empower people both sexually and financially.”
A Scandalous Show
What was once a potentially reputation-damaging rumor is now a burlesque experience. Burruss took what “RHOA” star Phaedra Parks alleged about the singer wanting to drug and rape Porsha Williams in a non-existant sex dungeon and turned it into the sold-out “Welcome to the Dungeon” tour last year. It proved so successful that Burruss and pals Tamar Braxton, Trina and more are going on the road again this fall.
