Tensions have been simmering between Kenya Moore and Nene Leakes as they film the new season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” And Moore has just given some insight as to why she’s got an issue with Leakes.
“I guess people’s true colors just had to come out at some point,” Moore told TMZ Wednesday night while she celebrated selling her Kenya Moore Hair Care line at Sally Beauty in Atlanta. Asked why Leakes is threatened by her, Moore initially joked that it was because “I’m fabulous.”
Then, she got serious.
“You know what, honestly, I don’t know,” she said. “It is definitely an issue that is within her. I don’t know why she is so intimidated by me. I just wish she would get herself together because, you know, I come in peace. But she just always seems to find a way to be bothered.”
She added that the O.G. “RHOA” star is “absolutely a bully” and who has “bullied everyone on the show.” Still, Moore says that while longtime friend of the show Marlo Hampton is in Leakes’ corner, third-time new mom and fellow peach holder Eva Marcille is Team Kenya. This despite the season 12 trailer for the show seeing tensions flare between Moore and Marcille.
“Eva’s on my bandwagon!” Moore says. “Nene has very few friends on the show. Real friends.”
The returning “RHOA” star, who is divorcing her husband Marc Daly, also noted that she won’t take advice on relationships or wigs from Leakes.
Moore’s speaking out against Leakes follows a report claiming Leakes is set to confront Moore about the alleged reason why Daly and Moore’s marriage is over.
“Marc has had multiple affairs on Kenya,” a source told Us Weekly Oct. 3. “She walked away from her career for him, and he had no problem with that and no problem disrespecting her.”
A day later an insider told Radar Online that Leakes, Hampton and Marcille aren’t buying the cheating scandal.
“NeNe, Eva and Marlo don’t believe that Kenya is telling the truth about the affairs,” the source claimed. “They haven’t said anything to her while filming yet. They’re waiting for the right time to bring it up to her.”
Leakes has not responded to Moore’s remarks. She’s instead focused her attention on, well, her wigs. She recently hosted an event at her Atlanta-area Swagg Boutique for the launch of Mane Bang Wigs.
